Mastering Your To Do List!
Vicky and I just finished an interview with author, Michael Linenberger, on Smart Women Talk Radio and I have to share this fabulous tip with you on time management and managing your To-Do List!
I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want is a two page “To-Do List” on my desk looking at me square in the face each morning when I arrive ready to start my day.
In fact, Linenberger states that research shows that individuals with long To-Do Lists experience symptoms similar to ADD and tend to lose focus, become less affective and lose discrimination as to what is even important anymore.
I believe that an unmanaged To-Do list can knock our confidence creating that, “I am a loser” syndrome, simply because we are in a state of overwhelm.
In Linenberg’s bestselling book, Master Your Workday Now! Linenberg has created a fabulous Workday Mastery To-Do List designed to help you:
- Gain Control
- Get Creative
- Connect your workday to your life purpose
I love this! He states that Workday Mastery will help give you the feeling and knowledge that your life and business are flowing more effortlessly, your goals are clear and objective, and your career is developing just the way you want it to (in line with your values).
In his book, Linenberger goes into detail on how to manage tasks with his “Now Task List”.Many of you may already be familiar with my Perfect Life Time System made up of Perfect Days, Prep Days and Power Days which is based on how to schedule and focus each day to stay rejuvenated by leveraging your time, energy and money. The Now Task List is how to manage your To-Do List, so they are a perfect marriage!
ACTION:
Linenberger suggests creating ONE LIST and break it up into three categories:
- Critical Now
nly 5 items (must do today) and states that you look at this list hourly - Opportunity Now: only 20 items (due in next 10 days) and look at this list daily
- Over the Horizon:everything else (due over 10 days) and update this list weekly
I use a 90 Day Project Worksheet listing all my projects and their tasks by category.Next I take those tasks and move them to Linenberger’s Now Task List. It’s perfect! Doesn’t just reading about this take your stomach ache away?!!
You can manage this list on paper, on a Microsoft Word Document or even with your Outlook Task System. You can learn more about all of this by listening to our interview with Linenberger, or visiting his website where he has created some videos on how to implement this system.
Feel free to watch my videos on implementing the Perfect Life Time System and then consider using Linenberger’s Now Task System to manage your To-Do List.I and my team have been using this combined system for the last year and it’s been wonderful.
I’d love to hear from you. What is your biggest challenge in managing your time and energy? How do you like these tips?
With gratitude,

The 5 Secrets of Money and Energy – #1 The Energy of Purpose
For the next five weeks, I will be writing about each of these energy principles. The first, and most important is the Energy of Purpose.
Just today I read a quote by Michael Dell, founder of Dell computers. It was in an article about 5 entrepreneurs under the age of 25 who had amassed great wealth. When Dell was 19 he made his first million. Today he is a billionaire. What he said was, “You have to be passionate about what you are doing. I think people that look for great ideas to make money aren’t nearly as successful as those who say, ‘Okay, what do I really love to do? What am I excited about?’ ”
When you know your purpose, it doesn’t matter what amount of money you make. It’s the excitement of doing something you love, that you are brilliant at, and that makes a difference in the world. It’s what makes you excited to get out of bed every day.
When you look at people who have accomplished significant things in their lives, you might think you don’t have what it takes to make a difference in your life. But the truth is that the only real difference between you and those people is that they have a clearly defined life purpose that they selected for themselves and then embraced with dedication and determination.
Now, finding and following your divine purpose is different from setting your goals. A goal is a tangible desire with an end result. But your divine purpose is really a way of living.
For example, I might have a goal of learning how to play the guitar. However, my divine purpose would be to bring joy to others through music.
Your purpose is the reason why you are here, both the being and doing. The questions to ask are “Who am I meant to be? and “What am I meant to do?
Typically, when I ask clients these questions, the response is from an ego-based place, which is based in fear. To do what you are meant to do and be who you are meant to be will bring up challenges to your stability, the one thing the ego is set on maintaining. The trick is to maintain your ego and connect with your trusted source — whether internal, universal, or personal — to uncover what your purpose is.
Katana and I will be diving deep into accessing what you are meant to be in the world in the first week of our telecourse. When you know your true purpose — not what others have told you to be or what you do to be safe — and put structures in place to support that, the universe will respond with synchronicities, the right people, specific tools, and yes — money — to support you.
Next week — The Energy of Intention.Blessings!

Clarity the Key to Creating Your Perfect Life
Start with the End in Mind
Stephen Covey shares this idea in his bestselling book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This concept is important whether you are starting a project, writing a report, planning a garden and even planning your life.ÂÂ
Create Your Vision
Take a moment to sit down in a quite place, and visualize your perfect life three years from now. What would it look like?
Exercise
Imagine it’s three years form now, and you are getting ready in the morning, looking in the mirror and you have a smile on your face — a big grin. What’s happening in your life today?   Where are you going? What are you going to where? Who are you meeting? Where are you living and with whom?
Write It Down
Now take a moment to write down what has to happen between now and three years to make these things happen. You don’t need to know how to do these things, just write down what would need to happen or change, write these in present tense and under the three categories below.ÂÂ
Personally
- My life is joyful, abundance and effortless
- I go to yoga three times a week and love riding my bike through the wet lands each morning
- I enjoy traveling, speaking and writing – my new book is a success!
- I love my home on the lake – my life is a vacation every day
Relationships
- My daughters are thriving and creating their own joyful lives now
- I love going to weekly concerts with my husband — we are closer than ever
- I make time to enjoy deep relationships with close friends by planning dates in advance
Money and Work
- My business is running without me – my virtual team take care of all the details!
- I am focused on doing what I love 80% of the time, and it’s paying off because my business is thriving
- We are on track with our financial goals and update our financial plan quarterly
Focus On What You Want – Not What You Don’t Want
Now print out your affirmations, and put them where you can read them daily. The next step will be taking action on the goals and working through any challenges, but the first secret is to get really, really clear about what you want and why you want it. Once you do, the magic will begin and you will literally begin to attract what you want into your life. If you are foggy about what you want or you only focus on what you don’t want from a “fear” prospective, the Universe will bring you more of that…more fog and fear.ÂÂ
Action Step
Print out your affirmations and put them where you can read them every day. You can make a list, create a vision board, but make sure you create something visual and focus on it every day with emotion and intention. You can also share your goals and dreams with others. This may create some fear – but begin to move in the direction of what you want and watch the magic begin.
